The Dakotas Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
(Dakotas JATC) is an electrical apprenticeship program jointly
administered and run by labor and management. The National Electrical
Contractors Association (NECA)
makes up the management side. Journeymen electricians working
for a NECA contractor and represented by the International Brotherhood
of Electrical Workers (IBEW)
make up the labor side.
The Dakotas JATC is the governing body for the apprenticeship
program, implementing training programs for both the apprentices
and journeymen and acting on all problems of apprenticeship.
We've trained over 700 journeymen in 1998 consisting of over
5,000 hours of training; all free to our members. We've been
training apprentices and journeymen for 30+ years with over 85%
percent of our apprentices completing the program and moving
into meaningful careers as highly paid, skilled, journeymen electrical
workers.
